Since 1945, the Albany Artists Group
has had a significant presence in the Albany Capital region. Many prominent artists of local and national stature have been members. The following are just some of them:
MILDRED (Millie) BEAUDETTE
MILDRED BEAUDETTE with her painting "Maine Coast"...acrylic/collage on canvas...featured in our Uncommon Grounds show.
Longstanding member of AAG, Millie graduated with a Masters in Design from Syracuse University, moved to New York City, and worked in Advertising as a Fashion Illustrator. Later she raised her family in Latham, still free-lancing as an illustrator. In addition to producing Art, she taught it for over 15 years to a loyal group of students. Her work has been in many shows, including the Cooperstown Annual and the Hudson Mohawk Regional.
CONSTANCE (Connie) ALEXANDER
Connie was an accomplished member of the Pastel Society of America
FUMIKO (Fumi) SHIDO
Fumi died June 1, 2018. We will always remember her as a dynamo of energy, creating huge paintings reminiscent of van Gogh and Munch, but totally Fumi. Her encouragement of other artists was boundless, yet she always remained humble about her own work.
Longtime member and award-winning local painter Eleanor Bolduc left AAG in 2017 due to health issues. Her constant output of charming oil paintings of the Albany Capital region will be missed.
SANDRA (Sandy) Dovberg
" I have been engaged in the design and fabrication of metal art objects and jewelry in Albany, NY since 1973. A Studio Art graduate of Skidmore College in 1969, I have exhibited and won awards for my three-dimensional pieces in local, regional, state and national museum shows. Additionally, in 2004 I changed my focus to painting as an alternative creative outlet. I am an active member of the regional artistic community and have served in various offices including President of the Designer Crafts Council, established in 1965, several art associations and founder of the Firehouse Artists. I have taught college level jewelry courses and workshops and graduate level courses.
