ERWIN HOYT AUSTIN

Member of AAG 1945-1955
(1945-46, Vice-President)(1947-48 President)

Born in Albany in 1912, Erwin lived in Delmar and Cooperstown. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and was a freelance artist and illustrator of children’s books. One of his murals was painted in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont. Others were at the Baseball museum Sports Stadium in St. Louis, MO and the Real Eight Museum in Cocoa Beach, FL. Austin worked for the Farmers’ Museum and Woodland Museum in Cooperstown. He was a member and past President of the Albany Artists Group and a member of the Rensselaer County Council for the Arts. In addition, he was a member and director of the Cooperstown Art Association
