Vince Forte

Following a career as an electric power engineer, manager and director of engineering Vince Forte, Jr. now enjoys a second career as a fine art oil painter. A professional artist since 2013, he has been painting for four decades.

While he earned several engineering degrees his training in art was by atelier practice. Artists who have significantly shaped Vince’s artistic education include his father (Vincent Forte, Sr.) a renowned sculptor whose bronze and stone sculptures can be found in public venues and in museums around the Albany, NY area. Vince also studied with Louis Pelky a fine art painter noted for his skies and seascapes. Louis Pelky had studied with Emile Albert Gruppe. He completed his artistic studies with Joan Lord a well-known oil painter and author who had studied with Helen Van Wyk.

Vince Forte, Jr’s oil paintings are in collections in seven states and Canada, including two local churches. In addition to oil paints he has used gouache, watercolor, and digital painting mediums. In 2022 Vince led a group of non-artists in creating a mosaic that is now in a local church.

Vince has worked on public bronze sculptures and in 2017 added the Medal of Honor for two in Albany. In 2018, he was a judge for the City of Albany/Ferris Coin Medallion competition.

Vince is a member of the Schenectady Art Society (SAS) since 2014, a board member since 2018, and co-leader since 2021. He has also been a member of the Colonie Art League since 2017 and a board member since 2021. Vince has been an Albany Artists Group member since 2021 and from 2014 through 2023 in the Portrait Society of America.
