Virginia Hoeppner

In Ginger's Own Words:

"I have always admired watercolors for their fluidity and color. I enrolled in a local evening class for beginners in 1996. I loved it and have been painting ever since.

Since retiring in 2003, I have been exploring acrylic abstract and non-representational painting. I am now drawn toward this type of painting because of the colors, shapes and surprises that appear during the process. I would rather paint or collage something that is in the imagination than photorealistic. I do work with various composition types, but seem to be drawn to one or two specific ones. Of course, there are times when the painting just paints itself regardless of composition type.

As a member of the Schenectady Art Society, I regularly participate in their shows and other exhibitions as well as in local outdoor shows. I have won numerous awards in each of these venues including the National Juried Show in Cooperstown, NY.

I currently live and paint in Glenville, NY. As well as painting, reading and mahjongg are a big part of my time.
